COVID-19 Updates
Beginning June 15, 2020 our Animal Control Lobby will reopen to visitors. The Adoption Center will remain closed to walk-in visitors. Please review the below information for updates.
Animal Control
- All visitors must wear masks. If you do not have one, do not enter and call our office at (574) 255-4726 ext 0 for assistance.
- Animal Control Lobby Capacity: 6 visitors
- If there are 6 people in the lobby area, please wait outside until guest(s) leave to adhere to the capacity level.
- Adhere to social distancing by standing on taped areas to achieve 6 foot spacing between guests. Please keep animals close to you.
- Only the Animal Control lobby is open to visitors for the following services: stray animal intake, lost pet walk-throughs, purchasing licenses/permits, and pet redemptions.
- Owners wishing to surrender a pet must have an appointment before they will be allowed to surrender. Visit our website at https://humanesocietystjc.org/pet-surrender/ to submit an Owner Surrender pet survey. After receiving this survey, we will contact you to discuss a surrender appointment.
- If you have experienced respiratory illness or have been exposed to others who have been ill within the last two weeks DO NOT ENTER. Call us from your vehicle at (574) 255-4726 ext 0 for assistance.
Adoption Center
- The Adoption Center is CLOSED to walk-in visitors. Only visitors with an appointment will be allowed in the Adoption Center.
- Visit our website at https://humanesocietystjc.org/adopt/ to view adoptable pets and to submit an online adoption application.
