Pet Handling Requirements
- Dogs must be properly restrained with a well-fitted leash and harness/collar or secured in a humane carrier.
- Cats must be secured in a humane carrier.
- Puppies, kittens, and senior pets should be handled with care to prevent stress and potential spread of illness.
- Pets that are reactive or prone to high stress/anxiety in veterinary settings should be muzzled or kept securely in a humane carrier to prevent injury to staff, volunteers, or other attendees.
- To ensure pet and attendee safety, you may be instructed to hold your pet in your arms so they are not on the ground/floor, place them in a carrier, or keep them in your vehicle until staff and volunteers are ready for your pet.
Health Restrictions
Animals exhibiting diarrhea, lethargy, coughing, vomiting, ocular or nasal discharge, or any other signs of contagious illness are not permitted to attend.
Service Refusal & Liability
Event volunteers and staff reserve the right to refuse service if it is deemed in the best interest of the animal, staff, volunteers, or other attendees.
Owners are liable for any injury or illness their pet may cause to event staff, volunteers, other attendees, or animals.
Microchip Registration & Contact ConsentPet owner and pet information must be provided to register the microchip with the Humane Society of St. Joseph County and 24PetWatch. Your contact information, including email, may be used to:
- Notify you about free or budget-friendly pet services, adoption promotions, and events.
- Share exclusive offers, promotions, and updates from 24PetWatch regarding microchip and pet insurance services.
