Home Fur the Howlidays

The Humane Society of St. Joseph County is currently the temporary safe haven for 350 animals, with only a handful in foster homes. As far as numbers go, we have 72 regular kennels to house dogs in, but there are 85 dogs in our facility right now. We also have over 230 cats & kittens in our care with 100 ready for homes right now.

To put it simply, we are beyond full and urgently need immediate support from the community to provide temporary foster homes for shelter dogs or forever homes via adoption.

Can you help us make this holiday season merry & bright for homeless pets?

We are excited to announce our partnership with St. Margaret’s House during Home Fur the Howlidays! Adopters & supporters can now drop off donations at the Humane Society of St. Joseph County for either St. Margaret’s House and/or the Humane Society. We’ve updated the Wish List items on our flyer. Please indicate to shelter staff if the items you are dropping off are for St. Margaret’s House so we can be sure to set it aside from the shelter donations.

Women’s socks
Women’s gloves/mittens
Full-sized bottles of lotion
New blankets & towels

Humane Society Wish List Items:
Unopened bags of dry dog or cat food (Purina, Iams, or Wellness brand products please)
Canned ground/pate’ style dog or cat food (Purina, Iams, or Wellness brand products please)
New or gently used/clean cat carriers
Clumping kitty litter
Regular bleach
Large black trash bags
Hot Dogs
High value dog treats
Pet enrichment items
